Why am I being asked to update my phone's operating system (OS) to continue getting Dexcom app updates?
Each year we assess whether to keep supporting older Operating Systems (OS) for Dexcom apps. When an OS you’re using is no longer supported for your Dexcom app, we will ask you to update your OS to continue getting app updates. Your current Dexcom app version will continue to work, but you won’t be able to get future app updates until you update your OS to the new required minimum OS.
Removing support for older OS’s is a normal app maintenance activity and is typically done after we add support for new major OS’s. Additionally, updating your phone to a newer OS version that’s compatible with your Dexcom app can provide your phone with improvements in Bluetooth connectivity, security, and other features that may offer a better phone experience.
If your phone can’t update to the new minimum OS, you’ll need to install the Dexcom app on a phone that runs the new minimum OS to continue getting app updates. While your current app version will continue to work on your phone, Dexcom can’t predict how the app will function in the future.
To find your device’s OS version, check the About section of your phone’s Settings. Refer to your device instructions for how to update your device’s OS.

Dexcom G6 app OS obsolescence news
Starting in 2023, we will no longer provide Dexcom G6 app updates for devices that run iOS 14 or below, or Android 9 or below. As a result, you will need to update your OS to iOS 15 or above, or Android 10 or above to continue getting Dexcom G6 app updates.
While we are compatible with the below devices, they can’t update to the new minimum OS. To get future Dexcom G6 app updates, you will need to install the Dexcom G6 app on a newer, compatible device that runs iOS 15 and above, or Android 10 and above.
