Device Upgrades

Will updating my smart device affect how I can use my G6?

Before upgrading your smart device or its operating system, check dexcom.com/compatibility. Automatic updates of the app or your device operating system can change settings or shut down the app. Always update your smart device manually and verify correct device settings afterward.

If I am replacing my smart device, what will I need to do?

To use your Dexcom system with a new smart device, you first need to stop your sensor session on your current device. Next, install the Dexcom CGM app on your new smart device.

Using the Follow App

What are the recommended iPhone settings?

Your phone settings can prevent the Dexcom Follow app from working. Learn more about the settings that will allow your app to work as expected.

Does the Follow App work with G6?

Yes, the Follow App works the same way as it did with the Dexcom G5 Mobile.

Setting Up Sharing and Dexcom Clarity

Will events entered into my CGM receiver show up in Dexcom Clarity?

Any event that is entered into your CGM will show up on Dexcom CLARITY graphs when your data is updated from your Dexcom Mobile CGM System or you upload your receiver to Clarity.

Will Dexcom Clarity work with G6?

Yes, G6 does work with Clarity. Patients will not need to register again.

Does Dexcom Clarity have information about my receiver or smart device?

Under the Devices section of the Dexcom CLARITY Overview page you will find the alert settings and last upload for the device. These settings are for your reference and are separate from Dexcom CLARITY settings.

How do I know when Dexcom Clarity has been updated?

For every release, a notification banner is posted at the top of the Dexcom Clarity on the day of the release. Follow the banner's link to read the release notes. If the Uploader software is updated, the notification banner posts 2 weeks before the release.

How long does the Dexcom G6 transmitter last?

A G6 transmitter lasts for three months (same as G5 Mobile).

How Do I Change Dexcom G6 Sensor?

Can I use the G5 Mobile sensors with the G6 transmitter? Or any G5 Mobile components?

No, the G5 Mobile sensors, transmitters and receiver are not compatible with the G6 system. If you would like to use a compatible smart device*, you will need to download the new G6 app.

Why does the G6 Android app ask for Location Permission?

We understand you may be concerned about granting this permission, but Dexcom does not use this permission to track your location.

Is there a new app for the G6?

Yes, the Dexcom G6 app will be available for free download in the Google Play and Apple App Stores. The Dexcom G5 Mobile App will not work with a G6 System and vice versa.

How do I set up the Dexcom G6 with my phone?

The Dexcom G6 app has to be downloaded and is different from the Dexcom G5 Mobile app. It is available for free from the Apple App or Google Play stores.

Calibration and Accuracy Issues

Can Dexcom sensors be calibrated and optional calibration?

All Dexcom products can be calibrated, but not required. All our systems are designed to work properly without calibrations. Calibration is therefore an optional function.

Does the G6 accept calibrations?

The option to enter calibrations was included to allow a user to manually calibrate the system in case the start-up calibration code is lost.

Using Your Sensor and Transmitter

Can the sensor be restarted after 10 days?

No. The Dexcom G6 CGM system is designed to eliminate the need for fingerstick calibrations* and can be used for 10 days without restart.

I lost my sensor code. What do I do?

Without your sensor code, you will need to calibrate twice after your 2-hour sensor warmup is complete, a third time 12 hours later, a fourth time 12 hours after that, and then once every 24 hours.

How do I keep my sensor on for the full 10-day wear?

Dexcom sensors are manufactured with a special adhesive to help them stick to your skin after sensor insertion.

What is a sensor code and why do I need one?

A sensor code allows you to use the Dexcom ONE CGM System without the need for fingersticks or calibrations. When you start a new sensor, you must enter a code into your display device, either manually or by taking a photo, as each sensor has its own code printed on the back of the adhesive patch. Do not use a code from a different sensor or make up a code. If you do, your sensor will not work as well and could display inaccurate data.

Are there any changes with alarms and alerts?

The 'Urgent Low Soon' alert is a new alert that can warn users in advance (within 20 minutes) of a severe hypoglycemic event (55 mg/dL or 3.1 mmol/L) - allowing them time to take appropriate action before an event happens.

How do I set up Siri on the G6 app?

With the Dexcom G6 app version 1.9 and later, you can ask Siri to recite your Dexcom glucose readings out loud and display your graph directly on the lock screen.

Where Can I Find When I Last Calibrated My Dexcom G6?

Dexcom G6 calibration information about your sensor session and system will appear in in the Settings menu of your Dexcom G6 receiver device.

Is Dexcom G6 CGM waterproof? | Dexcom

The Dexcom G6 sensor and transmitter are water resistant and may be submerged un-der 2.4 metres of water for up to 24 hours without failure if properly installed.

Who Can Use Dexcom CGM?

How can I share my data using a Dexcom Receiver?

If you upload your receiver to the CLARITY home user account, you can share your home user account data with your health care provider. Your clinic will need to give you a sharing invitation via email or printed invitation to initiate sharing.

Is this product approved for Pediatrics?

Yes, Dexcom G6 is indicated for children as young as 2 years old.
