Is Dexcom G6 waterproof?
The Dexcom G6 Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) System sensor and transmitter are water-resistant. They may be submerged under 2.4 metres of water for up to 24 hours without failure. However, for the diabetes sensor to be water-resistant, the transmitter must be installed properly.
This makes Dexcom CGM ideal for any type of weather condition (rain or humidity) and intense exercise, including swimming. Keep in mind that Bluetooth connections do not work as well in water. For this reason, try to keep your Dexcom transmitter and display device* in close range of each other if you are swimming, bathing or showering.
The Dexcom G6 receiver* is not water-resistant or waterproof and can be damaged if mois-ture gets inside it. Check manufactures’ guides on water resistance for smart devices.*
You can also compare other Dexcom diabetes products to see the difference – the Dexcom G7 and Dexcom ONE+ all-in-one Dexcom sensor and transmitter wearable is completely waterproof when submerged under 2.4 metres of water for up to 24 hours
