Why am I being asked to update my phone's operating system (OS) to continue getting Dexcom Follow app updates?
When an OS you’re using is no longer supported for your Dexcom Follow app, we will ask you to update your OS to continue getting app updates. Your current Dexcom Follow app version will continue to work, but you won’t be able to get future app updates until you update your OS to the new required minimum OS.
Removing support for older OS is a normal app maintenance activity and is typically done after we add support for new major OS. Additionally, updating your phone to a newer OS version that’s compatible with your Dexcom Follow app can provide your phone with improvements in Bluetooth connectivityand other features that may offer a better phone experience.
If your phone can’t update to the new minimum OS, you’ll need to install the Dexcom Follow app on a phone that runs the new minimum OS to continue getting app updates. While your Dexcom Follow app may continue to work your current OS, Dexcom cannot predict how the app will function in the future as it will no longer be supported by Dexcom.
To find your device’s OS version, check the About section of your phone’s Settings. Refer to your device instructions for how to update your device’s OS.

Dexcom Follow app OS obsolescence news
Starting in 2021, we will no longer provide Dexcom Follow app updates for devices that run iOS 12 or below, or Android 8 or below. As a result, you will need to update your OS to iOS 13 (or above) or Android 9 (or above) to continue getting Dexcom Follow app updates. While we are compatible with the below devices, they can’t update to the new minimum OS. To get future Dexcom Follow app updates, you will need to install the Dexcom Follow app on a newer, compatible device that runs iOS 13 (and above) or Android 9 (and above).
