Dexcom Support and FAQs
Having an issue? Let’s resolve it.
Inserting your G6 Sensor
The Dexcom G6 sensor may be inserted on the abdomen or back of upper arm (indicated for patients age 2 years and older) and the upper buttocks (ages 2-17 years).
If you have any questions regarding your sensor, you can refer to the "Using Your G6" guide for helpful information.

Helpful Pairing Tips
The app will display a Bluetooth Pairing request. Tap Pair and wait for the transmitter to pair, then tap the Start Sensor button to begin your sensor warmup. This will take two hours to complete, and you will not receive readings or alerts during this time.
Calibration and Accuracy
With G6, there’s no need to use fingersticks to calibrate the system or for treatment decisions (as long as your symptoms match your G6 readings). If your symptoms don’t match your G6 readings, use your blood glucose meter when making treatment decisions.
Common Signs and Symbols
If the number is in a gray circle, you’re in your target glucose range. When you go below your low alert setting, the app alerts you and the circle turns red. When you go above your high alert setting, you get an alert and the circle turns yellow. The app’s trend arrow on the right side of the circle is important because your glucose is always changing. The trend arrow shows where your glucose is heading, and how rapidly.

WARNING: Failure to use the Dexcom G6 Continuous Glucose Monitoring System (G6) and its components according to the instructions for use and all indications, contraindications, warnings, precautions, and cautions may result in you missing a severe hypoglycemia (low blood glucose) or hyperglycemia (high blood glucose) occurrence and/or making a treatment decision that may result in injury. If your glucose alerts and readings from G6 do not match your symptoms or expectations, use a fingerstick blood glucose value from your blood glucose meter to make diabetes treatment decisions. Seek medical attention when appropriate. Please review the product instructions before using the G6. Indications, contraindications, warnings, precautions, cautions, and other important user information can be found on the Dexcom website and in the product instructions that are included with, or accompany, the G6. Discuss with your healthcare professional how you should use the information displayed on the G6 to help manage your diabetes. The product instructions contain important information on troubleshooting the G6 and on the performance characteristics of the system.
