Where can I insert my Dexcom G6 sensor?

Dexcom G6 Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) sensors may be inserted on the:
Abdomen
(indicated for people aged 2 years and older)
Back of the upper arms
(indicated for people aged 2 years and older)
Upper buttocks
(indicated for people aged 2-17 years)
Look for a place on your abdomen, back of arms or upper buttocks where you have some padding. The Dexcom G6 sensor is not tested or approved for other sites. Talk to your doctor or diabetes care team about the best site for you.
Dexcom sensor placement is important, and you will want to change your insertion site with each sensor (every 10 days). Using the same site too often might not allow the skin to heal, causing scarring or skin irritation.
Choose a site:
  • At least 8cm from any insulin pump infusion set or injection site
  • Away from waistbands, scarring, tattoos, irritation and bones
  • Unlikely to be bumped, pushed or laid on while sleeping
Follow the Dexcom G6 instructions for use. If you don't, you could experience a severe low or high glucose event. If you have any questions regarding diabetes sensor insertion, placement, or anything else, please refer to the Dexcom G6 User Guide for more information.
